Flood Risk Mitigation at the Community and Household Level

How can we tackle climate adaptation in Canada? In this talk Dana Decent, Manager of the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation, will outline current efforts to improve community resiliency through flood-resilient community design standards. She will explain how to reduce homeowner risk through the Home Flood Protection Program and explore home inspector training on flood risk. She will also share new research on the mental health impacts of flooding based on 100 interviews she conducted with homeowners in flood-impacted neighbourhoods, and how this research has galvanized new partners to engage in climate adaptation efforts in the country.
