  • Royal Canadian Institute for Science 6 Queen's Park Crescent West, Rm 9 Toronto, ON, M5S 3H2 Canada (map)

Bat researcher Kristina Muise shares her discoveries, what it’s like being a wildlife researcher and how you can help support bat research over on our Instagram 🦇

Kristina recently defended her MSc in Bioscience, Technology and Public Policy at the University of Winnipeg, where she examined the effect of huddling behaviour and ambient humidity on the physiology and behaviour of big brown bats, a species affected by a fungal disease called ‘white-nose syndrome’.

Passionate about science communication and public outreach, she works with Bat Watch, notably helping to manage their social media, and increases the public's understanding of bats through outreach talks. She also writes science articles on bats and hibernation for Massive Science.

In her spare time, you can find Kristina outside taking photos of wildlife and landscapes or experimenting in the kitchen! For 2021, she’s set herself a challenge to try two completely new recipes every month (this month was challah bread and apple butter)! 🍎
