Public Events Code of Conduct
RCIScience strives to create a welcoming, accessible and lively environment for everyone to connect with science in innovative and insightful ways. We believe that diversity in science brings new perspectives, including ones that may challenge your viewpoints. We expect everyone to treat each other with respect and dignity, and embrace the diversity of opinions, backgrounds, and experiences within the RCIScience community. Discrimination or harassment based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, or any other protected characteristic as outlined in the Ontario Human Rights Code and Canada Human Rights Act will not be tolerated. Notify event organizers if you notice someone in distress. All reports will be treated with confidentiality and respect.
Anti-Harassment Policy
RCIScience is committed to providing an atmosphere that encourages the free expression and exchange of ideas in a harassment-free, friendly and respectful environment.
In accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Canadian Human Rights Act, RCIScience will not tolerate, condone or ignore harassment and/or discrimination of any Participant, based on Protected Characteristics.
Harassment of any kind is considered to be misconduct that undermines the integrity of RCIScience and is more broadly disruptive of the Institute’s activities. Such misconduct is prohibited, and violators of this policy will be subject to disciplinary review. If harassment is found to have occurred, disciplinary measures will be applied.
Review the complete policy to understand the expectations, complaints process, disciplinary actions, appeal process, confidentiality and other issues arising from Harassment at any RCIScience event or activity.
Members Code of Conduct
Members of RCIScience are part of a community dedicated to promoting public engagement with science. We strive to create a space that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive for everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs. Our Members Code of Conduct outlines the standards expected of all members and participants to ensure that RCIScience remains a positive environment for learning, discussion and collaboration to advance science engagement across Canada.
By-Laws
By-laws are the internal rules that govern how a not-for-profit corporation operates. They cover a wide range of topics, including membership, voting rights, board of directors, meetings, and more. These by-laws were created by the Institute to comply with the requirements of the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) and other relevant laws.
Articles of Incorporation
Articles of Incorporation are legal documents submitted to the Provincial, Territorial or Federal governments within Canada which are necessary in order to establish a corporation as a legal entity. They also outline the Institute’s purpose and regulations it must follow as a registered charity.
