RCIScience Awards 2025 William Edmond Logan Award to CCRM for Excellence in Science Communication
The Royal Canadian Institute for Science is pleased to share that the Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine (CCRM) has been awarded the eighth William Edmond Logan Award, recognizing outstanding organizational leadership in promoting the public understanding of science in Canada.
First established in 2015, the Logan Award is a companion to the Institute’s long-standing Sandford Fleming Medal. Named after a foundational figure in Canadian science and the Institute’s third President, William Edmond Logan, the award celebrates organizations that demonstrate excellence, integrity, and innovation in science communication.
Past recipients include Celestica, Sanofi Pasteur Canada, IBM Canada, and CBC’s Quirks & Quarks, placing CCRM among a small and distinguished group of national leaders in public science engagement.
The Awards Committee unanimously selected CCRM for its role as a trusted knowledge mobilization leader in regenerative medicine, a rapidly evolving field where public understanding, transparency, and trust are essential. Through initiatives such as the Commercializing Living Therapies with CCRM podcast and the Signals blog, CCRM has made complex science accessible while fostering informed dialogue across sectors.
“CCRM bridges the gap between cutting-edge research and public understanding,” said Carrie Boyce, Executive Director of RCIScience. “At a time when Canadians are navigating uncertainty and misinformation, CCRM’s commitment to clear, unbiased, and responsible communication sets a national standard.”
The Logan Award was presented at a special MaRS Mornings session and included a panel of top science communicators exploring healthy skepticism while debunking medical miracle cures.
