Pixel Perfect: Fighting Misinformation with Video Games

Ridhi Patel, a third year pre-med student at the University of Waterloo, noticed a lot of misinformation around the current COVID-19 pandemic. An avid gamer, Ridhi decided to combat these misunderstandings by developing an online trivia game to promote top health practices.

Join RCIScience as we play Quarantrivia live with Ridhi, helping our hero Dr. Pixel save his Pixel World from the coronavirus and quashing some myths about the disease along the way.

Ridhi Patel is an avid gamer and pre-med student at Brock University. Formerly a student of the University of Waterloo, Ridhi worked with Dr. Jozef Nissimov from the Faculty of Science to create Quarantrivia, an online game aimed at combating some of the misinformation surrounding the current COVID-19 pandemic. Having picked up coding skills in her early university years and fostered her graphic design experience through extracurricular roles, Ridhi was well placed to develop this side project during lockdown.

In addition to gaming, Ridhi has a wide variety of interests including cooking, dancing, visual arts, running and reading about current affairs in science and technology. She aspires to become a doctor who will continue to expand her skillset to serve the community around her.
