Don't Pan(dem)ic! The Science Behind the Board Game

Join RCIScience for a digital experiment as we explore the science behind the board game Pandemic. In this game, as in real life, cooperation is key to saving the world from massive disease outbreaks. But what other aspects of this popular game are based in reality? Four scientists from the areas of microbiology and public health play the online version of Pandemic, while shedding some light on the germs that live among us and ways we control them in real life. 

About the Speakers

Dr. Amanda Veri is a microbiologist and recent PhD graduate working as a Research Associate at the University of Toronto. She helps support research programs exploring how microbes, especially fungi, can cause disease in humans.

Tavia Caplan is a recent MSc graduate from the department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Toronto. She has experience in infection prevention and control and is interested in how infections spread.
